Ambassador Udall in Auckland

On Monday Ambassador Udall was honored to attend and speak at the United States Business Summit today in Auckland, alongside colleagues U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo and National Security Council Coordinator for the Indo-Pacific Kurt Campbell (who joined from the U.S via virtual link). Our bilateral relationship and our cooperation in the region are longstanding & only continue to grow. A long history of friendship & a commonality of purpose sees us working closely together in many areas. We look forward to doing the mahi as we grow our indispensable partnership with New Zealand and the Pacific.

Read the stock-take report of the New Zealand-United States trade relationship here, which was released  by the NZUS Council and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The following day the Ambassador and staff had the pleasure meeting with some of the University of Auckland – Waipapa Taumata Rau team, including the International Office, Faculty of Arts, and the offices of the Pro Vice-Chancellors Māori and Pacific. We discussed our shared focus on indigenous cultures and how we can strengthen collaboration and exchange between the United States and New Zealand.

As a former U.S. Senator from New Mexico & current Ambassador to New Zealand, Samoa, Cook Islands & Niue, the Ambassador also really enjoyed connecting with the University of Auckland’s American Politics & Policy students on Tuesday afternoon. Thank you for hosting and letting the Ambassador share a few stories from his days back in Congress.
