U.S. Citizen Services Outreach Days in Wellington and Christchurch

The U.S. Consulate General Auckland’s Consular Section will be providing passport application acceptance in Christchurch on Monday, April 22nd and in Wellington on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024.

Due to overwhelming demand, we cannot honor specific time slots and will be assigning appointments on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested in one of our listed services and can be available anytime between 8am – 4pm for a 5-minute interview, see below instructions.

Services offered**: U.S. passport renewals for children under 16; U.S. passport renewals for first-time adults (over 16 years of age); and replacing lost/stolen passports.

*Note: This service is not a complete adjudication, though you will be seen by a consular officer.  At your scheduled time, you will submit all required forms and copies, be sworn in by an officer, and sign the relevant forms. Your application will then be sent to Auckland for final adjudication and processing. You will not have the opportunity to ask questions about your case at the appointment, so any concerns should be resolved via email prior to your appointment.  Please expect about 8-10 weeks for processing.

Services not offered: U.S. passport renewals for adults**; first-time passport applications for adults over age 16; emergency passports; consular reports of birth abroad; notary services; renouncing of U.S. citizenship; federal benefits; any other U.S. citizen service.

**Note: All adults whose 10-year passport was issued less than 15 years ago should submit their renewal application by mail to Auckland. No interview is required.
