U.S. Embassy NZ teamed up with Te Papa’s Innovation hub, Mahuki, to bring Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Program Manager, and Art & Technology instructor of Themed Entertainment Design at UCLA, MK Haley, to New Zealand for a series of lectures, workshops, and programming March 25-30 in Auckland (introduced by Consul General, Katelyn Choe), Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
The Innovation of the Experience Economy series consisted of four talks and workshops that explored the future of “the experience” within the culture and heritage sector and beyond. MK’s talks proved popular, with over 800 entrepreneurs, industry experts, creative business owners, and students attending the lectures and workshops across the country – proving there’s no business that’s not show-business.
MK’s additional programming included a meeting with Courtney/Miramar Creative Director, Kristy Grant and Weta Workshop/Digital Creative Art Director, Gino Acevedo; a behind-the-scenes tour of Weta Workshop; a discussion about entrepreneurship & tour of the Digital Design & Visual Arts faculty at the Auckland University of Technology; a talk with entrepreneurs at the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce; and a demo of the JIX Immersive experience down in Dunedin.
Thanks for your time MK, and thanks Mahuki for coordinating the program.
