Starting November 1, 2016, eye glasses will no longer be allowed in passport photos.
U.S. passport photo requirements are different to New Zealand photo requirements. Please take the time to read the following to avoid passport processing delays as we will only accept photographs that meet U.S. passport photo specifications. Acceptable passport photos are:
- 2 x 2 inches (5 x 5 cm) in size, taken within the last six months;
- in color, printed on photo quality paper;
- taken in front of a plain white or off-white background, in full-face view directly facing the camera, with a neutral facial expression and both eyes open; and,
- taken in clothing that you normally wear on a daily basis. If you normally wear a hearing device or similar articles, they may be worn for your photo.
- No hats or eye glasses
We recommend you use a professional passport photo service to ensure your photo meets all the requirements. Snapshots, magazine photos, and low quality photos (either self-taken or poor print quality) are not acceptable.
